During his expeditions and adventures he was on boats, on foot, and he was even rowing at the Atlantic together with Alain Colas back in 1976. He also wen sailing all over the world together with Eric Tarbarly back in 1977. He also as the leader of group who ascended of Everest from North Face back in 1983. He was also the first man who ever walked the North Pole on his own. He did this back in 1986. he is the main actor of the film The White Planet, because he narrated the entire film.

The main characters in the movie were the polar bears. These animals are endangered species in this region. This is because the polar ice caps, where they live are slowly melting due to the climate change happenning in the worl.
